MARIAH CAREY
"she's obviously extremely talented but I love her just because she's completely in her own fantasy world and unapologetic about it. She's larger than life and owns who she is. I also really respect her recent revelation of her struggles with mental illness as this is another cause I really believe in"
GEORGE MICHAEL
"George Michael because he stood up for what he wanted to do and didn’t listen to MTV and didn’t allow to be pushed into something he didn’t want."
KYLIE
My favourite pop icon for the lgbtq community has to be Kylie Minogue. I love her morals and especially how she refused to get married with her fiancé, until there was legislation of gay marriage in Australia. Her songs are also loved by her fans in the community, which brings everyone together in joyful spirits when she performs.
ELTON JOHN
Elton John because simply put, he’s cool as fuck. He plays piano in star shaped glasses and sometimes chucks on a cape. He’s also the founder of the Elton John AIDS foundation, which is amazing.
‘There is nothing wrong with going to bed with someone of your own sex. People should be very free with sex, they should draw the line at goats.’
MARY LAMBERT
Mary Lambert - I feel that she has kept very honest to who she is and she has had to strength to believe in herself and speak about topics that remained quite for so long e.g. bipolar disorder and being lesbian while having a Christian upbringing.
